July 10, 2026: Nikola Tesla Day at Boston Pizza

Having already completed three of the multiple events (in March, May and June) that
the NTHSA is spotlighting to celebrate our tenth anniversary in 2026, we were pleased
to have concluded three more in July, with the featured event yet to come in September.
This will occur on September 23 rd , with a formal ceremony for unveiling a
commemorative oak tree and plaque in a City of Edmonton park in honour of Nikola
Tesla.

Since July 10th also marks Nikola Tesla’s 170th birthday, Edmonton’s High Level Bridge
was again lit in blue lights which has been a tradition since the proclamation of Nikola
Tesla Day in 2019. An exhibit planned at the Telus World of Science–Edmonton was set
for July 11th , however this venue was flooded by a torrential thunderstorm and remains
closed for renovations.

We celebrated our annual Nikola Tesla Day at Boston Pizza where we enjoyed an
evening of excellent food and staff service, much fun, great music and several
wonderful video presentations. To honour Nikola Tesla’s 170 th birthday, Dr. Adam
Bergren had prepared a powerful, brief tribute, depicting scenes from Canada’s North.
The scenery was outstanding.

Following the birthday tribute, the program moved on to a BBC film about the inventor,
then a buffet- style reception with our Tesla Tales productions running in the
background. Our members and restaurant staff were intrigued by the magic tricks
performed by young Andrew who at age 9, confidently demonstrated his magician skills
at every table.

We were treated to the lovely singing voice of Dr. Elaine Beltaos-Kerr who sang her
original composition Like Tesla with vocals backed by Andrew Beltaos on guitar.
Andrew also played and sang Tesla’s favourite song, Far, Far Away plus Mikis
Theodorakis’s song entitled Day After Day.

Many thanks to all the attendees and entertainers. Thank you to Dr. Angela Beltaos for
a seamless montage of Tesla Tales videos; Simon Yewchuk, Marko Srnic, Djordje Srnic
and Andrew Beltaos for the room set-up, and Dr. Elaine Beltaos-Kerr for party
decorations and delicious Nikola Tesla cake.

Much favourable feedback was received during and after the event and attendees
lingered on to enjoy company and fellowship.
