September 23, 2026 – Ceremony and Celebration for Commemorative Oak Tree for Nikola Tesla

We are working on the program for this historic event! Details will be forthcoming! The Ambassador of Serbia has confirmed his attendance.

Important Year -- This year is the 10th Anniversary of NTHSA/Alberta Tesla Wave and 170th Birth Year of Nikola Tesla. We have been very active with a variety of events this year:

  • Pi Day
  • Serbian Days
  • Wireless Film
  • Dr. Adam Bergren’s E-card to Nikola Tesla from Canada North
  • Tesla Day Celebration July 10th
  • Niagara Falls Tesla Day Celebration
  • September 23 – Commemorative Tree Celebration – Coming Up

Congratulations to the Volunteers of 2025!

We thank all our volunteers as without them, it would be difficult to achieve what we continue accomplishing: new and exciting milestones!

Last year’s recipients were Henry Kerr, Ana Antonov and George Taylor. Thank you, Ana, George and Henry. Your hard work and assistance in making Tesla Tales Across the Globe is appreciated by all of us!

2026 Nikola Tesla Innovator of Alberta Medal

This is the first year we will be announcing and awarding this medal. Please join us for this special presentation at the Serbian Hall in the evening of September 23rd. Details to follow.

 

Membership Renewals

If you haven’t renewed your membership, and some of you haven’t, please do so at your earliest convenience. The individual membership remains the same at $ 24 per year. Our revenue has dropped significantly and we count on every penny for sustaining and delivering our exciting initiatives. You can email your fee to membership@teslawave.org

This year is critical as we need to raise $ 2300 for the commemorative oak tree for Nikola Tesla – a lasting and growing tribute to Nikola Tesla in Edmonton for years to come! We are very proud of this project which is well deserved by Nikola Tesla – and now we are working on making it a reality!

The location is beside/behind TWOSE and by the path to the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada Observatory in Coronation Park, and is ideal for annual gatherings of the NTHSA and their guests. Let’s measure and watch the growth of this tree. We thank the City of Edmonton for all their work on this project.

Telus World of Science – Edmonton (TWOSE) Flooding

This year’s July 10th storm has damaged the building significantly. So much so, that it will remain closed for renovations until the late Fall this year. We are looking forward to its doors being reopened to the public. Our ongoing collaboration with TWOSE will continue accordingly.

Edmonton Heritage Council

We are active members of the Edmonton Heritage Council. We appreciate the Council’s support of our activities over many years.

Call for Volunteers – Anyone following our activities will surely recognize the significance of our work. In addition, we are an enthusiastic and fun group but we can only do so much. Please consider joining us or, at least sharing your ideas with us. Ideas, Book of the Month, Nikola Tesla for Young Minds, Editor of this Newsletter, are only some of the endless possibilities on how you can get involved.

Achievers Among Us

Congratulations to Marko Srnic, a new engineer from the University of Alberta; Henry Kerr on his graduation from Queen’s University in Political Sciences and continuation in graduate studies at Carleton University in Ottawa; Dr. Angela Beltaos on her appointment as the Program Director, Science at the Athabasca University.
